Kitty Sleep-Over

So I was going to take in Jean Marie's cat Micah. She lives in the upstairs bedroom (the dog doesn't like her around), but JM has been sleeping downstairs for the last year since her dog Augusta went blind, so the cat only gets about 30 minutes of attention each day.

I brought her home yesterday and she made a bee-line straight under my bed. After an hour or so she snuck under the couch, and stayed there the rest of her time here. Poor thing!

She was so freaked out by the new surroundings that she didn't eat, drink or use her brand new litter box once in the 26 or so hours she was here. Plus, Jean Marie came over 5 or 6 times, so I know she missed the cat. After we brought her back to her old home, she wasted no time in eating, drinking and using her littler box (haha).

So, long story short: I had a new cat for just over a day, but neither of us got any joy out of it. I'll just get another neutered male cat someday, like my three amigos, Henry (1994-2001), Sabrino (1998-2014) and Chumble (2014-2025), once I have a decent job...

Midday Lake

The Patriots beat the Bills, and the next game I care about is tonight's Lions game, so in between (4:30 - 5:30) I went to the lake for my usual walk and sit-around.

The walk soundtrack was Jin's "Echo" and RESCENE's "Glow Up". It was a bit grey out, but it was cool and dry, so I enjoyed it. I also managed to capture a flight of geese as they took off from the water's surface!

Masterpiece

Tonight's dinner was a fancy version of my usual pork and rice.

I sauteed some mushrooms in butter and sesame oil. The boneless pork was cooked with soy sauce and then topped with oyster sauce once on the plate. The rice was cooked with green onion and then broccoli was steamed on top of it. And finally, the whole thing was covered in rehydrated seaweed and a fried egg. Ridiculously good!

October is Here

I couldn't sleep last night so I got up at 5:00 am, and decided to go to the lake at 7:00 am, which I rarely do, preferring to be down there around sunset most times. It was a nice change. The walk's soundtrack was Level 42's "World Machine".

I also began Inktober 2026 (see my other blog, Balsa Wood Tree House, where the majority of my art has been located since October of 2012).

Lunch was a frozen pepperoni pizza (I did a small food shop on the way home), I took a couple of naps in the afternoon, and the evening was "Thursday Night Football", and then the surprisingly enjoyable new "Masters of the Universe" movie. A very long, very full day.
